| Weather Conditions: Sunny and low 70s to start and becoming cloudy and eventually light showers as I finished up with temps in the upper 70s. |
| Ride Description: Early Bird Ride. Noting the excessive heat warning I got up early and took off just after 6am. Streets were still somewhat wet from last night's rain but were drying up as the sun began to beat down. I rolled into Glacier Knoll and onto the trail. As I rode up to the bridge just after the Brice Rd tunnel I came up on a beautiful indigo bunting right in front of me on the trail evidently drinking from a puddle. He took of right in front of me giving me one of the best views of his species I've ever had. Then on to Groveport and over to Three Creeks. Not too many folks on the trail today. Just after the underpass on 104 I came upon a deer right next to the trail pointed away from me. I came up silently and she darted into the woods a few feet then turned to look back at me. Then 3 other deer just off to my left in the woods also checking me out. I rolled along into Bexley thinking I might stop at COSI for breakfast but the closer I got the darker the skies became. I decided I would race for home though my prospects looked bleak. The rain actually held of longer than I expected. I came upon Chuck coming at me just after US33. He seemed to think it would pass north of us so he continued on as did I. I got all the way to Diley when I began to feel a few drops as I crossed the railroad track. Then it rained more steadily all the rest of the way home. No lightning seen just a comfortable rain keeping me cool. |
