Left my apartment at 7 am Tuesday morning and just got home early this afternoon! I was staying at my parents house since being released from the hospital ER. Had to wear the same clothes (minus one sock which had to cut off at the scene) until late Wednesday after my dad went to my apartment for some clothes, etc. It was better to be at my parents house since they only have one step and my apartment is on the second floor. I was using crutches to walk and was having a really tough time negotiating that one step.
Saw my primary care doctor Thursday morning and he had my splint removed and redressed the wound. I will be returning next Thursday to get the stitches removed, there was a total of 11.
With the splint gone, I was more mobil, only had to use one crutch and eventually no walking aid. I was lucky and my achilles tendon didn't get damaged.
This morning I went for a very short walk, wearing a shoe on my left foot for the first time since the attack. So I decided that I could go home. I missed 2 days of work and I'll return to work this Sunday.
No word from the authorities since Wednesday when Animal Control called to ask if I would like them to issue the dog's owner with a citation for 'dog at large'. I said that I would and I will have to appear in court sometime in the future. As far as I know, the dog is still in quarantine. I may not know until late next week whether I'll have to have rabies shots. I sure hope not.
