I started riding seriously in 1996 after a very pregnant coworker told me I looked fat! My only goal the first year was to make the 15 mile round trip on the local rail trail once before the summer was over. I ended up riding 1100 miles that year and have steadily increased ever since. I'm not fast, but I can keep going forever. I now own three bikes and do all errands within 10-15 miles of home by bicycle. Having always been the non-athletic one in my family, I get a charge out of being the one who is in the best physical shape.
And yes, I DO believe that trainer miles "count"! |
