TJ; LC; Krypto; and ESPECIALLY you, Triplecenturies: do not come near Pansy in 2010. She is just full of half-cents that are gonna bust your chops and kick you in your saddles. As you pass her by. Just remember: when dealing with Pansy, Never look back.

SloJoe: this doesn't count as a post.

TJ, Krypto, Triplecenturies, and especially YOU, PP: Bring it on. It will be fun watching you get kicked to the curb. Again. I'll even spot you two months. It's winter here, ya know. Current wind chill: 3. See you in summer.

I haven't given a goal number yet, but think an average of one per week (52) should be good.

Half Century #1 - Annual Hains Point Laps with VeloDCity

Distance: 102.66
Time: 6:03:40
Total Time: 7:46:46 (was 5:59:59 after the outdoor ride)
Average speed: 17.22 MPH
elevation gain: almost nothing

We ended up with better weather than the NWS had been predicting with the temperatures staying above freezing and the rain ending before midnight on New Years Eve. I rode Arlington streets to Key Bridge and then DC streets to Hains Point to join up with seven members of VeloDCity for this annual DC activity. Did 17 laps of the 3.25 mile circuit, stopping for a lunch break at 44 miles. Then headed home via the 14th Street Bridge and the Mt Veron and W&OD Trails. Then took Quincy to the Custis Trail and home, finishing with 76 miles.

After a quick snack, climbed on the Tunturi and spun while watching Penn State hold on to beat LSU adding another 26.66 miles.

Average speed: 15.47 MPH

Two slow commuting rides for the first half taking an alternate longer route to avoid lingering ice on the W&OD Trail. For the second half, spinning while watching the first half of the Orange Bowl, Iowa v. Georgia Tech. They say it's the coldest Orange Bowl ever, 48F.

#2 Half Captain
Miles: 70.3
Time: 4:47
TT: 5:10
Avg: 14.8
Route: Had no plans on riding today but when I got the call to stay home from my job due to cold weather, I figured why not brave it and see how I'd handle this cold snap down here. Record cold this morning 27 degrees so I waited to leave at 10:00 when it was a toasty 35 degrees. Went north cutting through a 10mph headwind to Holly Hill. My turn-around was a blessing for now I got a tailwind. Managed to stay warm with all my gear and layers on. Never hit 50 degrees my whole ride. A personal first for me temperature wise and hopefully the last. Its been 10 years since Fla. has had a cold snap this many days in a row BRRRRR!!

#3 BRRRRR Half Century
Miles: 50 even
Time: 3:45
TT: 3:55
Avg: 14 mph
Route: Left my house at 6:30am and went to the airport to watch the Hot Air Ballon Festival. Due to the weather they didn't go up so I cycled throughout the county to finish my Half. Cold and freezing sleet pellets made my ride and my toes C-C-C-Cold.
SloJoe make room I'm coming down to Miami to warm up haha.
