Hi Group Mind,
When I watched Saturday's stage of the Giro I noticed a number of flags at the finish that were all white with a green circle and a green leaf-like design in the middle. I don't know a lot of the European companies associated with the race and I was hoping somebody could tell me which one that was for.
Thanks!

It did not look like a maple leaf... looked more like marijuana, but with equal-length tips in a full circle. When I first saw it, I thought the dopers had taken over the Giro.

Rusty, that was my first thought as well. It was a rounded sort of multi-lobe leaf. I didn't see any sponsor names on it and nothing on the official Giro page's sponsor listings has anything close.

I did not see the flag, but might it not have been associated with this? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lega_Nord Or, more specifically, this? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Padania

Yep, that Lega Nord symbol looks like the flag I saw on the video coverage at the Giro...

-- posted by vkan Probably so, then.
"More recently the party is trying to stress the independent status of Padania through sports and other activities. Since 1998 Lega Nord organized a Padania national football team, which took part and won 2008, 2009 and 2010 VIVA World Cup."
It wouldn't be surprising, the party trying for visibility by posting flags for TV Giro coverage.

I wouldn't be surprised at all, Thorn. In fact, I'd be more surprised if they WEREN'T trying for visibility.

That looks like the flags and signs that I saw all over the finish area at one Giro stage. Mystery solved, me thinks.
