I am looking for a time trial spreadsheet or I-Pad app that can score TT's for our small club. We normally have 8-20 riders. It should do the math and rank according to time.
Any help out there in BJ land??

buddy list me and I will send you the one we used for 3 years for our USAC sanctioned TT. Our largest was 220 riders.
Under 50 riders when we started we did it by hand

If you're just looking to rank the riders by their score, Excel should do the trick for you.

Dallasbiker You are onthe buddy list. Thanks
Alex. Thank you, I have figured out a round about way to do it. Time functions in Excell are causing me fits, But I have that part. I would like to run a club TT this way. Tap screen on "name" Tap screen on"Time Start" as rider leaves. Tap "rider name" on arrival to stop time.
Tap "sort" to list riders by time. I realize that it is possible but I am dreaming that it could be sooo easy.
Thanks for the ideas so far. Tailwinds

I think you might be causing yourself problems if you are using the computer's clock for the actual timing, and counting on clicking a button for each rider at the start and end times. For the start, it would probably be OK, since the sequence is orderly and at fixed intervals (30 sec typically). But at the finish, you won't know the order in advance, and will have some riders bunched together. Numbers will sometimes be hard to read. Even with good callers before the finish line, it will be nearly impossible to enter the finish times for riders closely bunched together. At least give yourself a backup plan to enter missed data manually. At most of the TTs around here, spreadsheets are used to sort results, but not for the actual timing, and times are only recorded to the nearest second (except where chip timing is used).

dcl has a very good point...multiple stopwatches are used for the time, spreadsheet for calculations and results
And you've got mail

dcl Yes, that has been on my minds too. how to recognize a rider AND get his / her spot on the screen at the correct time. Touch screen could make it possible but still tricky. We use manual now. 30 second starts, give me a headache doing the math. Started at 4:30---- end time is 33:17....33:17 - 4:30 is...headache!
Dallas, I got the email, thanks. looking at it this afternoon....
Thanks all!

Any chance of video taping to double check results?

I think I posted this picture before. Here's a non-typical finish of one of our local TTs:
More typical would be 2 riders crossing the line very close together.
I don't think any of the local clubs use video for TTs, but it's common for road races and crits. Usually there, the exact time isn't important, but the finishing order is.
As for the headache of doing the subtraction of start times from finish times, a spreadsheet can handle that painlessly, as well as the sorting of results by category and time.

best idea for that situation is to have 2 "officials" at the finish line...each takes a designated finisher (you get the first, I'll get the second...) and writes really fast or uses a voice recorder.
Camera is only useful if it has the time, which would need to be synched with the stopwatches.

If the camera has the time, video leaving and arriving.
