Upper nineties again today with a mostly west wind. Headed up Fitzpatrick hill and did fairly well even on the eleven percent sections. Sprayed myself with bug spray today in hopes of keeping the horse flies at bay, and it indeed worked. Crested with a nine-nine average which for me lately is fairly decent. Was able to maintain a good flow on the rollers and small climbs and continued to have a good average on the short climb at the top of Millport Hill Rd. After that it was another six miles of rolling downgrade to Horseheads. Got there about four minutes faster than my last attempt and started thinking of a fast time if I could maintain my normal speed down the slot. It wasn't to be though as I was expecting at least a following crosswind down the slot and got instead a nasty headwind through Pine Valley. Really died on the final upgrade through Pine Valley and actually started losing speed and time. Things improved after that and the final eight miles of downhill, but my fire had gone out and just finished it off. Should have been happy that I easily beat the recently coveted fifteen average, but now I lust after the elusive seventeen. Still a good time on the bike.
