Sky had returned to blue but there was still the smell of woodsmoke in the air. Got in a short morning ride as more bad air was scheduled for the afternoon. It was pretty cool for July and there was little wind. Headed to Rock Stream up SR 14 and SR 14A. been trying to keep the speed up to ten on the lower section of the climb and did well until halfway up the first of two steps. Dropped down to eights and nines to finish off the shallow part of the climb. Wasn't able to stay out of the saddle on the steeper section for long and really didn't have much spin so had to struggle it out. After reaching Reading Center the hard part of the ride was over as it was a fairly fast decent to Rock Stream. Put enough effort on the false flats along the lake to get the average up to fifteen. Wasn't too difficult with the long descent back into Watkins. Fairly pleasant ride with the climbing falling somewhere between dismal and poor.
