Ride Description: Klondike Bluffs... W/Sue... Very fun ride. Got to see dinosaur footprints in the slickrock. Didn't go to the end. The 3.5 mile slickrock climb tired Sue out. We missed one turn on a deep soft sand pit, but the trail was marked better on our return. The trail was well marked. There was a 2.8 mile rocky dirt road to a 2nd trailhead.

Just outside of Arches National Park is a very cool trail called Klondike Bluffs. The coolest thing about this trail are the fossilized dinosaur footprints in the slickrock part of the trail.
From the trailhead off HWY 191 it was a 2.8 mile rocky road to another trailhead parking area. Next time we will start from the second trail head. Parts of the road have a green sandy composition that gives the area the look of another planet.
The trail was well marked and fun to ride. There were a couple deep, soft sand pits I had to walk. And there was a Jeep trail/double track section that was eroded and very rocky that was a little tricky to ride. Then the coolest part of the trail, a 3.5 mile climb up dinosaur track slickrock. Very cool! The slickrock had a few places, steeps and drops, that I decided to hike, but overall the trail was not very difficult. We took our time, took lots of pictures and rode slow enough to enjoy the scenery.

Photo #2... Yellow flowers in the green dirt.
Photo #3... Sue would rather walk the steep slickrock than crawl slowly up in granny gear. It's steeper than it looks.
Photo #4... Dinosaur footprints!
Photo #5... Another one! There were quite a few of them, all circled by rocks. These were the best.
Photo #6... Print circles.
Photo #7... Looking down the slickrock.
Photo #8... Looking up the slickrock.
Photo #9... Baby Steps is a more technical trail going down. Sue wanted no part of that.
Photo #10... A multi-user trail means waiting for the cattle to cross the trail.
Photo #11... Balanced Rock in Arches National Park.
Photo #12... The Mountains still had snow on them.
Photo #13... Skyline Arch behind our campsite.
Photo #14... After riding Klondike Bluffs, we went to check out the famous Slickrock Trail at Moab. It was a nice hike, but both of us decided it looked too tough to be fun. We ride for the fun of it, not to see how bad a trail can humble us.

I'll have to check the Klondike...looks good. Hope you got into the Firey Furnace in Arches. Great trip despite the wind I hope. We have had our share this spring.

Klondike rocks! Yup, we did the Firey Furnace hike, very kool. The Devil's Garden was awesome too. I discovered my hiking limits that day. We saw quite a few road bikers at Arches, and not as many at Canyonlands N.P. where the conditions were more favorable. (Fewer cars & wider roads)
