North wind was blowing hard again today and my cycling doctrine dictated that I ride into the wind to start things off. Unfortunately the only ways north out of the valley are climbs and didn't seem to have much energy nor initiative to start off with a climb. Opted instead for a flat ride to Eldridge Park again Thought maybe I would feel better starting off with a stiff tailwind and get some speed work in. Didn't turn out that way as the climb up the valley was a bit lackluster and just cranked out some miles. It wasn't unpleasant riding though as the sun was out and it was still warm and still felt like a lazy summer ride despite the accursed north wind. Speed picked up a bit once out of Pine Valley and onto the flat city section. Took a break at the park and people and goose watched for awhile before heading home. Return through the city was into the wind but not too demanding. Picked the pace up after returning to Pine Valley and again heading downward and attempted to get the average up to seventeen. Failed again but put in a good effort and felt good to be pushing the pedals hard after the earlier relaxed pace.
