Took yesterday off as ride around lake trashed my legs. Took a short ride today with one short climb up Johnson Hollow. North wind helped me up the valley to Millport and had good spin. Climb went well though nothing spectacular. Still lots of loose stones from recent oil and chip seal with large piles of stones now swept to the shoulder. Got through the hollow in fair shape and only had one small climb and a fast downhill to go. Didn't get very good speed on the downhill and had to brake hard rather than ride it out. Seems the north wind and passing traffic produced some nasty swirling crosswinds on the down hill and my bike was getting thrown about to the point I had to slow down mostly due to lack of nerve. .Probably could have bested seventeen with a good downhill and the last two flat miles with a strong tailwind. On the other hand a crash at that speed, though unlikely, might end me and at least would end my cycling. Wimped out and survived the day but had a good ride.
