 Wilderness Ride II
Transition day today as have an eight-hour drive back to NY. Decided to ride the shortest course of the Wilderness Ride. Legs are tired and resting heart rate is up so thought this might be some easy miles to spin some toxins out of the legs. Started fairly early in the day and area was in a pretty thick fog at the start along the New River. Course is twenty-six miles long with two rated climbs. Started right out on the first climb into the fog. It turned out to be a highway climb that bypassed the steep climbing I did on yesterday's course. Took five miles of climbing before I was out of the fog and into the sunshine. Kept it in the small chainring but still had shifting issues as it doesn't want to stay in the gears I want. After the initial climb there was ten miles or so of rolling climbs through cow country. I would occasionally repeat sections I had done yesterday but got to look around a bit more today. There was one good climb on the return trip then five miles of downgrade back to the river. Did a lot more work than I planned on just to keep moving. It would, I think it would still be a fairly challenging route even though it was the easiest course.
