Legs were still tender so decided on a shorter ride. Weather was again sunny and predicted to rise again into the nineties by the afternoon. Got out early to beat the heat. Really appreciated being near seventy degrees early in the day and the wind being very light for the first couple of hours of riding. Decided on doing the Croaker-Norge route out of Freedom Park. I've ridden it a couple times in the last few months but haven't been able to complete it due to construction on I-64 overpasses. Course leaves the park on the access road instead of the trail used yesterday but still goes onto Jolly Pond Road and through the gully on Cranston Mill Pond Road. Legs weren't responding well today and what was a quick climb yesterday didn't go as well today. Continued north on gentle grades until hitting some short climbs in a wooded area. More new houses appeared since last time I rode the course and a few more are under construction. Rode on the Old Stage Road for a bit before finding out the roads ahead were still closed due to construction. Had to detour and tried to stay parallel as possible to the original course. Had to contend with traffic over one section of bridge construction. Returned to the park by going back through Cranston Mill Pond Gully that has an eleven Percent section on the reverse direction. Ride was completed by a final climb on the bike path into the park. Heart and legs strength were both suppressed today resulting in low watts and a slow pace, but nice weather made for a good day on the bike.
