Numbers looked better today and weather looked great so opted to try a little longer ride with two hills. Headed up Old Odessa and made a decent effort and ended up with an average in the low nines. Felt pretty good and thought I had done better but still it wasn't an abysmal climb. Headed out to the Junction and then up SR 13 to Sullivinville.
Legs felt good and had decent speed and got to the Junction with enough extra time in the bag that made getting to the top with an eleven not much of a challenge. Had thoughts of a seventeen as I started the two mile highway climb. I had a fairly good ascent last time I attempted it with similar conditions. Didn't do very well at all as wind fought me all the way up. Weather site said it was only a six mile an hour breeze, but it felt significantly higher and put a hurt on me. Got over the top with twelve and change and thought I could still have a fast ride with some effort on the downgrade into the wind to Horseheads and then a faster ride down through the slot with the wind at my back that was currently plaguing me. Things didn't go as planned as couldn't generate any decent speed to Horseheads. Reduced expectations still had me finishing over sixteen with a good run down the slot. Wind was from the west which meant the tailwind would be sporadic through the valley and was only able to keep the speed in the low twenties for the twelve mile leg. Usually can keep the speed into the high twenties with a decent tailwind. Had a good ride despite my lackluster performance. Didn't suffer today and still felt like riding at the end of the course.
