Stopped in Lewisburg, PA on my way to Virginia for a century tomorrow. Started the ride at the Buffalo Valley trailhead but opted to ride the highway instead. Headed out on SR 45 toward Hartleton. Rode into a headwind but it wasn't as bad as last time I was out this way. Kept a good pace on the gradual climb and caught up to a horse drawn buggy that I settled in behind to catch the draft. Had to slow a bit but still was doing sixteen or seventeen. I followed to Mifflinburg before passing the buggy as it wasn't practical as there really isn't a shoulder thru town and there are a few stoplights. Did some mild climbing to Hartleton that was my original destination but pushed on through another climb west of the hamlet before descending to the river. I was tempted to do a mountain climb up 235 but still had a quite a few miles to drive so turned back and rode east along the river. Originally I was going to return via SR 45 but decided on exploring some side roads instead. Turned out to be a good choice but also turned out to be much more climbing than I expected. Hit numerous short steep climbs in the last five miles where I would have had one climb and then downhill on SR 45. Went about ten miles further than planned and did quite a bit more climbing than anticipated that was fun but not sure it was a good thing with more driving ahead and a century tomorrow.
