Numbers are still marginal but slowly improving. Opted for another short day but with one short climb. Caught a north wind up the valley to the foot of Johnson Hollow with a fair average of fourteen. Thought with my recent drop in poundage that the hill should be a bit faster even with an easy effort but couldn't build up much momentum. When my climb screen cleared after a couple miles of easy climbing up the hollow, found that I had lost a huge chunk off the average. Tried to do some work on the remainder of the hill without much success as legs were leaden. Got to the top with seven or eight miles of downhill and downgrade remaining and it didn't look like I would be able to get the average up to my benchmark fifteen which was a bit depressing. Legs came finally came alive and had surprisingly good speed over the last third of the course. Even had a fast decent though it was into a slight headwind. Was delighted that the average had climbed rapidly and had my fifteen and some extra by the foot of the descent in Watkins. Had a tailwind back home across the swamp and ended up with pleasant ride despite the poor climbing.
