It appears my Florida riding is nearing the end as my old friend the North Wind is returning tomorrow blowing away the warm temperatures. While I have been riding in wind in the mid teens I don't have the energy nor drive to ride in cold winds in the mid twenties. Today though was still decent with a little less wind than normal and comfortable temperatures in the high seventies. Started early and headed out to the south west to do some exploring. Came up with a map to keep me off the main highways and numerous turns to give me frequent relief from the wind. Roads were in pretty good shape overall but kept running out of pavement. Some of the and sand roads were hard packed and ridable while most were deep soft sand and too receptive to my thin tires. Ended up doing some backtracking and riding on the highways more than I intended. It also added a few miles as had planned on fifty and got a few bonus miles. Ended up going into Branford that I had originally planned on bypassing. Turns out it had a really nice bike trail along the highway. Called the Suwannee Trail it looked like a rails to trail. Only was on it for a couple of miles until it went into Branford. Once into Branford I turned back north and caught the tailwind. Stayed mostly on the highways that had a decent shoulder but were heavily trafficked. Legs are getting tired so having a day off couldn't hurt but cool weather looks to be here to stay until I head back to the Great White North.
