It was quite warm today, but winds remained in the single digits so can't complain about the weather. Decided to try to extend my milage a little by attempting a thirty-mile ride with a couple of climbs. Started out up Old Odessa and tried to stay out of the granny. Was successful at that but only crested at a sad eight mile an average. Didn't really recover and really dragged into the slight headwind to the junction. I thought taking it easier on the flattish part would leave me in better shape for the second climb out of the junction up SR 13. It is a long highway climb and doesn't have anything steep. Occasionally depending on how the legs felt in the past it was a big chainring climb. Not today. Although I stayed out of the granny, I suffered the entire climb. I could barely keep the legs turning and thought more than once of dismounting. I stayed with it and after what seemed like hours of climbing finally crested. The rest of the ride was mostly downgrade with a majority of it having a tailwind. Would like to say I hammered it but spent most of the ride slowly spinning and pretty much draped over the handlebars. Unpleasant ride all around.
