Numbers and temperature were up as well as the sun being out so went out to do some climbing. Saddle sores are still lingering so still trying to keep the milage down. Went up Jackson Hill for the first time this year. It is one of the easier climbs out of Montour with a steeper section at the bottom and then a gentler grade up to Catherine. Felt pretty good up the hill and thought I had a decent climb, but the clock disagreed. Was only a little over nine miles an hour that probably is a fair time for this year's less than epic climbing. Turned off Jackson Hill at Catherine and continued upwards on Ridge Road. So it was another five hundred feet of climbing over two miles. This section wasn't as pleasant as the first few miles as it was into a brisk headwind. Maintained my nine mile an hour pace and crested over Seymoreville. Time was good enough that I could probably finish with on my fifteen plateau, but with the numbers up and rested legs was hoping for a faster time. Had good speed on the downhill to Horseheads but still had to deal with the headwind. Average steadily kept climbing but the physical climbing had put me in a virtual hole. Thoughts of a sixteen plus were abandoned as the wind was out of the west down the slot again limiting the fasted section of the ride into the low twenties. Had the fifteen rolling into town but lost it on the return to the homestead. Not a fast ride today but was quite pleasant.
