Welcomed back to NY by high steady winds. Resting Heart Rate still high and legs still feeling yesterday's eight-hour drive so opted for an easy hill spinning day since I wanted to stay out of the wind as much as possible. Installed a new chain and bike shifted good on the first highway climb out of Watkins as I caught the strong tailwind enroute to Rock Stream. Started up the extended climb out of Rock Stream though and chain would not stay on the middle gears. Climbing with jumping gears wasn't much fun. When I got to the top of the climb, I ordered a new cassette that is supposed to be here by Friday. I have a fifty-mile race pace ride on Saturday so was hoping I had something on the shelf at home that would keep me riding some hills this week. Got one of my backup bikes set as a TT now and my Masi has a seven-speed straight block on it. Plan on riding an ITT on Thursday but would rather stay in the hills the rest of the week until the wind lets up. Had planned on doing another hill on return trip but ended up spinning into the headwind on the flat to get home. Not a fun day.
