It was 30 degrees when I rolled out from the house this monring. I really felt it when I started out and had to keep my speed down to avoid getting cold. I wear fingerless riding gloves and my fingers were really cold, so I figured to stop at TTR about 4.5 miles out and buy a pair of riding gloves with fingers. But about 3 miles out my fingers came back to life and by then I could pick up speed without getting cold. There were very few riders out today. The first 18 miles I saw 13 other bikes. I rode out to the north end of the trail and as I was turning around Cis called to see where I was. On the ride back down the trail I stopped at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and bought a turkey pesto melt, a cup of dark roast coffee, and a pair of chocolate croissants. I ate half the sandwich and roasted sweet potatoes and put the rest in a bag to take home for Cis. They also had a new vendor giving out samples of pimento cheese spread that they plan to sell. She had regular, spicy, and hot. I tried the spicy and it was really good. My feet were pretty cold by that time and it gave them the opportunity to warm up as well. Even though the trail was relatively empty, the Cafe was packed. I stopped at TTR on the way home to chat them up and get a drink of water. The final miles home were uneventful. I could tell that I have been spending time on the stationary at home as my legs were stonrer on climbs. I have been riding it 30 minutes on work days and bad weather days. Overall it was a pretty good, but chilly ride.
