Steve and Ken were both gone this week so Don led the weekly ride. We had three new riders that are neighbors to Don - Adrian, Rose Marie, and Leigh, along with regular riders Don, Mark, and me and occasional rider George, seven of us headed up the trail. We met David at the double bridge. He was running behind because of a flat. So we had eight riders total today. With the temps hovering at 70 Cleveland Park and Falls Park were both packed and there were a lot of riders, joggers, walkers, roller-bladers, etc on the trail. The ride up seemed to be into the wind. I know the average speed was down. Around Sulphur Springs I noticed that the three new riders were losing ground so I told Don that I would drop to the back of the pack to ensure that there were no problems. Right after I dropped back we met an older couple and he was asking if anyone had a pump. So I stopped and pumped up a nearly flat tire. I figured the group had left me, but they were stopped at the Furman railroad car. I took my spot at the rear and we rode on up to the Forest. At the Forest I had a white peach hot tea. George left early and David ends in TR, so 6 of us headed back. We rode along without incident. Adrian, Rose Marie, and Leigh got off behind the railroad depot. Don stopped at Liberty Bridge for a Spinners board meeting and Mark and I rode back to the park. The ride was slow but good.
