Time to kick back in 2009.
In past years I targeted a century a month, about 36 100km rides, a 200km ride every month, and some other long rides etc. That meant this sign would be over my head: "Ye Must Ride and Ride Long."
Not this year.
I discovered geocaching www.geocaching.com/ and I can do it on my bike. These kind of bike rides will be of the leisurely type with a lot of time off the bike exploring mama nature or places of interest. What's "neat" is that the coordinates of the cache take you some place new; a place you might not go simply because you didn't know it existed.
So I'm changing me bike philosophy this year: Just ride when I feel like and kick back a lot. I mean A LOT.
- Bike to some place of historical interest and spend time there.
- Bike more with me BIG GUN camera and document China while I'm still there.
- Bike more with the better half on the tandem at a "let's look at that" pace.
- Bike more off road where there are no cars. I can ride a MTB for a goodly distance before the ol back ache flares up.
- Bike more of Shanghai and forget about getting in a 100kms.
- Bike with a beginner group or better yet offer to lead a beginner group and teach them some safe riding techniques.
- Bike on more than one tour and do it leisurely.
- Bike in Italy or France from B&B to B&B with a winery along the way.
- Bike because I want to.
My motto was and is: "Bike Long and Prosper". It stays the same, just not as often.
