This is the 2nd week end in a row with miserable, lousy, disgusting South Florida weather.
On January 9th I was to ride a 200km brevet but the temps were in the high 30's/low 40's with rain forecast.
On January 16th I was to ride a 200km brevet but the forecast was for heavy rain with temps in the 50's and 60's.
Normally, I'd give it a go in rain or snow, but my nurse coordinator told me that I have to clear any long distance ride with her. Why? Well I've got this really good liver as the result of a liver transplant. She told me if I intend to keep it that I must keep myself healthy and free of colds, flu and the like. So when I told her of the weather forecast her words were: "Joe, I know how much you love cycling, but tell your bike buds that "Nama Nurse Toni" says "No way, Jose."
The next scheduled official brevet is 300kms on February 6th.
I'm facing all my bikes to the east to appease the weather gods. Oh, and Mama Nurse Toni, too.
