After the disastrous attempt to get in a quarter on Monday I finally got it in. My clothes and my body are kind of battered from the attempt two days ago. My body isn't hurt badly anywhere but it is hurting a little everywhere. The bike seems to be none-the-worse for it. I think that I absorbed most of that one! Tonight I drove to the downtown post office and headed out Washington Street to the Swamp Rabbit. I had told Erica that if she wanted to ride to come later and go to the railroad car at Furman. Then give me a call and I would be within 5 miles of her in one direction or the other. Then we could meet up and ride together for a while. That way I can get in a longer ride and she won't have to ride as far. I had gone by the railroad car about 30 seconds when she called and said that she was there. So I went back and we headed up to the north end of the trail. We turned back and stopped at the gazebo in TR for a drink of water then back south to Furman. The buildings north of Furman are completely torn down but the trail isn't paved there yet. So we went around it both directions. We also saw the Ghost Bike that is a little farther north from there. We went back by the railroad car and down to Sulphur Springs and back to Furman. That gave Erica a 14 mile plus ride then I headed back south to the post office which gave me a 26.4 mile ride. It was very good to get back out and riding. I am waiting for the sand to get off the roads before I put many road miles down again. Right now the roads are buried in sand. Erica is riding much stronger than she has. I left her several times the first couple of miles, but didn't shake her very often after that. She rides just behind me to my left so I can't see her in my mirror. BTW, I don't see out of my left eye so I use a mirror clipped onto the right side of my glasses.
