Had a couple inches of fresh powder fall last night and considered getting the skis out but thought I'd ride the trail and see whether or not there was a good base on the trail as there was some sun today and thought it would make short work of the snow. Turns out it was probably a better day for the skis and saw lots of tracks and three skiers on the trail. It was ridable but very difficult especially the slight climbs. Had to keep a high cadence to keep moving and stay in the saddle to keep moving straight.Coasting was out of the question and the legs had already been taxed once today by a strenuous workout on the trainer. Lost quite a bit of energy due to slippage and the legs were really burning by the time I got to Millport. Only averaged a little over seven on the way up which seems like a poor return on all the work I put into the ride.Wind picked up on the return leg and had to ride into it and the wind chill severely reduced the enjoyment factor. Feet were cold by the time I got back but was pleased I got through the day without falling down. May try the skis tomorrow morning but doubt the snow will survive until afternoon as the temperature is scheduled to go above freezing.
