A slight south wind produced a decent day for late January. Headed up the W toward Millport. Although the temperature was a little above freezing the ground was cold enough to keep the trail firm for easy riding. Saw a half dozen walkers out today and tracks in the half inch of snow showed that someone else has ridden the trail on a mountain bike since last week. Kept riding after Millport and checked the new construction on the section to Pine Valley. Didn't see much change yet from last year though some improvements have been made. Surface is a frozen washboard and gave my front shocks a work out. Trail started to disappear as I approached the domes but was able to follow some single track up the hill until I lost it in a open field. I also crashed in the rocky field when my rear wheel slid off a rounded rock jutting out of the ground. Since I was bundled so well I was pretty well cushioned from the fall only taking a little damage to my right elbow. Left the frozen field via the domes parking lot and headed home on the highway. Kept fair speed with the south wind and pavement and got home without catching a chill.
