 Sunrise Sunset
Once again this morning I was wishing I had the camera with me. As I turned onto McDonnell Blvd to head around the east end of the airport, the sun was almost fully above the horizon, and was just a nice looking orange ball, easy to view through the thin clouds. That, and the landscape covered with the white snow of last week made for what would have made a beautiful picture.

The beauty of the day took a nose dive about an hour after I got to work. My boss gathered our team together for a brief meeting to inform us that some restructuring is being done today and in the process some positions are being eliminated and people are being terminated. The only one terminated in the IT department is my good friend Ken. He was the manager of the QA group – his direct reports will now be absorbed into other IT groups that they are accustomed to dealing with. The day became more somber late this afternoon as several others from another department, who were some of my cubical neighbors were also terminated. Moves similar to this the last couple years were related to the economy and were done to hold our bottom line. Now that the economy is rebounding, and we have been profitable for the last several months, and overall for the last year (fiscal year ends this weekend), it just seems out of place for such a move.
