Had a variety of weather today. Started out on the road bike in sunny forty degree weather and did some hilly laps around town. Dastardly wind from the south though put a damper on my enjoyment of the ride. Really had to struggle in the upwind sections and it left my legs weak for the climbs. Got tired of it rather quickly and headed home after twenty miles. Couldn't pass up the blessing of forty degree weather in January so I convinced myself to go back out on the mountain bike and try to stay in some cover to cut down on the wind which was blowing even harder than it had earlier. Rode down in the swamp which was now thawed out quite well and spun in the mud quite a bit. Almost lost it in a water filled swamp hole that suddenly swallowed my front wheel up the the axle. Thought for sure I was going to lose it and at best get two soakers but amazed myself by powering out of the mess. Got out of the single track and started the east leg on the Rock Cabin Road and it started to rain heavily. Really wasn't that unpleasant even though I was soon soaked through. Ran out of daylight again due mostly to the heavy cloud cover and had to head to the house again before I was sated with riding. Kind of an odd day as the cold rainy part of my ride was far more enjoyable than the sunny part.
