Had to make a trip to Texas for work and so had an opportunity for a little warm weather riding before the job begins. Spent the last couple of weeks riding indoors on the computrainer and have made modest gains in decreasing my tonnage and increasing my cadence but have lots of opportunity for improvement left. Stopped over in Caddo Valley, AR and had planned on riding over the mountain to Hot Springs but weather conditions convinced me to abandon that plan. Although the temperature was a balmy near seventy degrees, a viscious wind was blowing and there was an eighty percent chance of heavy rain and a forty percent chance of a tornado. Plan B was to just do laps in the park at the lower dam outlet that I park in until the rain started. That didn't work very well as there were crews cutting trees in the park which made doing laps inconvinient for all involved. Plan C was to just take a tour around town. Got about ten miles of fast flat spinning in and found myself overdressed so headed back to the park to shed a layer. Rain had held off fairly well with only an occasional light drizzle, so decided on climbing the hill and riding around the upper section of the park and turning back when the rain picked up. Got into the park and saw a sign for Iron Mountain and thought I'd give it a try. Turned out to be a nice easy gradual climb with only a couple short eight and ten percent sections. Got to the top and cruised around until the rain finally kicked up. Headed back down the mountain and got saturated by the time I got back to the truck. It was warm enough that I didn't catch a chill but had little desire to add additional miles.
