Wind has finally settled down after howling yesterday and last night. Had a dusting of snow overnight but it had mostly sublimated under the bright sunshine by afternoon. Headed back into the swamp on the mountain bike with the temperature a little below freezing. Trail was mostly frozen but had occasional muddy or wet sections depending on how much sunlight it had received during the day. Really overheated on the singletrack with the wind at my back and got a little chilled coming back into the wind. Front derailleur froze up on the way back but it really wasn't too bad since it was trapped in the middle chainring which was more than adequate to handle the fairly flat course. Had an encounter with a couple walking a dog on the vally trail as when I passed them thier leashed dog growled and lunged at me which for some reason they thought was terribly amusing and had a good laugh. I thought it was rather rude behavior and have found out that in most cycling-dog altercations that it seldom ends well for the dog. Saw a large doe on the trail a little farther up and was suprised now close I got to the deer before it bounded off. I have found that most cyclist-deer altercations that it seldom ends well for the cyclist. Had a good ride today despite that rude people and cold weather.
