The ride stayed on the MO side of the mighty Mississippi this year, apparently due to some major road work on the IL side. I would divide the ride up into three sections. The first, like last year, went north to the Trail of Tears State Park and back for the first 27 miles. Then the second segment went southwest out of Cape, across the flat farm land of Scott County, but also into the prevalent wind out of the west. Then about the time to turn back towards Cape to go more with the wind (around mile 62), the third section there was rolling hills to contend with. The hills were not extreme, but enough of a challenge, showing how much was taken out of my legs during the second section.
The weather was very nice - tempature wise, not wind wise - starting in the upper 40's and climbing into the mid to upper 60's. I started the day with the arm warmers on, and did not see a need to take them off before finishing the day. If I had my tights with me, I would have had them on, and probably would have left them on all day, too, as I doubt they would have caused me to overheat.
