I've Got Something to Say
|
The forecast for the past several days has been calling for rain today, even starting late Tuesday night and lasting into this evening. Well, the rain did roll in during the wee hours of the morning with some lightening and some off & on heavy rains.
After yesterday’s power outage, our alarm clock was set to the correct time, but we didn’t reset the alarms. Luckily Jacque woke up a little after 6, so we were in trouble by over sleeping. As I heard her get up and get her day going, I lay in bed continuing to listen to it rain and trying to convince myself to ride my bike to work today in the rain!
Riding in the rain isn’t a foreign concept to me, I’ve done it several times before, just not so much to/from work and it is hardest to leave the house on the bike in the rain – as opposed to being out on a ride and getting caught in the rain. The flipside of riding to work in the rain, is that I would be committed to ride home (actually being Wed I’d ride to church after work) in the rain and the forecast calls for high percent chance of rain during the evening hours, too. Based on that double whammy, I wimped out and decided not to ride.
Had I looked at the weather radar before making my decision, I would have seen that the rain was moving out of the area, so the drive to work was on wet roads but not much rain falling.
There was another rain shower around midday, but just cloudy skies when I left work for the day – so the after work ride would have been dry. That’s Murphy’s Law for you. If I had ridden my bike, I’m sure there would have been a nice rain shower when it came time to leave work.
The threat of rain was also a concern for the St Louis Cardinals and their home game in the NLCS. There was some light rain/drizzle as the game approached the middle innings, but that was it – no rain delays for the game as the Cards won it to take a 2 games to 1 lead in the best of 7 series.
