I was off work today so I met a group at Linky Stone Park to ride the Swamp Rabbit Trail. I rode with a group that the leader made several stops to explain what we were riding by, what has been done on that section of the trail, and what the future plans are for that section of the trail. Even though the Swamp Rabbit Trail has come a long way, it still has a very long way to go. I am surprised at the costs that the leader was quoting for various projects along this trail. They are two bridges planned one in Cleveland Park to bypass a very narrow loop at $700K and another at the end of the present trail across the Reedy along Cleveland Street at $700K. They also plan to lengthen the present trail to Pleasantburg Drive at a cost of $800K. That is a very short way to lengthen but it includes many obstacles that will be expensive to overcome. The ride was enjoyable although it was at a very relaxed pace.
