The sun was shining when I got off work and I checked the radar and things looked good, so I headed out to get in a quarter. I was a mile out when I saw that it was dark to the south and right now weather is coming up from Florida and traveling up the Eastern Seaboard. I cut out the hills in Cleveland Park to get out quicker but it started sprinkling about 9 miles out. I stopped at the gazebo in Travelers rest at 13.5 miles out for a quick drink and turned around to rush home ahead of the coming rain. The sprinkles increased as I headed home until I finally stopped less than 2.5 miles from home and called my wife to come get me. It was lightly raining, but I had no desire to ride across Stone Avenue and up East North Street in the rain during rush hour. I would have gone on during normal traffic, but figured the odds of becoming a casualty were dramatically increased during rush hour.
