One of the girls at work asked if I would ride with her and her friend Sherry. We agreed to meet at the railroad car at Furman. I left the house and took my normal route out East North Street to the Swamp Rabbit. Mary Beth called when I was about 1/2 mile south of Furman and they were still about 20 minutes from meeting. I went on north of campus to investigate a rumor that a section of the trail would be closed to tear down a dilapidated warehouse. Sure enough there are signs for a Swamp Rabbit detour until December 3rd. That is the last section of the trail that is not paved, so hopefully they'll pave that final quarter mile of the trail. Then I headed back through the Furman campus and rode by the baseball stadium to see if the boys were having fall practice. Coach Smith was holding a baseball camp for high school junior and senior prospects. I watched for a while then headed back to the railroad car to meet Mary Beth and Sherry. They arrived and we headed south along the trail. I trailed them and let them set a pace that they were comfortable with. We rode south over three miles then turned to go back to the railroad car. They seemed to have a good time riding and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Once they had packed up I rode back down the trail and out East North home. It was a good day to ride.
