I went on the Warm-up Ride for Mike this morning planning to get a metric century by the time that I finished. I left the house at 7:30 on this chilly morning and rode to Cleveland Park and met up with the group doing today's ride. Eight of us left a little after 8 a.m. and headed up the Swamp Rabbit. Once at the northern end Jonathon P. led us north of TR, across US 25, and around to Tigerville Road. We had two riders struggling to climb the hill and put their bikes on the SAG car and rode with her. Shortly after we got off of Tigerville Road my chain came off. I put in on and it came right back off, then I noticed that the front derailleur was cockeyed. Jonathon and I tried to fix it but discovered that the bolt that mounts it had stripped out. So I called Cis to come get me and told Jonathon that they needed to go to get to the barbeque lunch that was planned. WHile waiting a couple came by and took me to Sunrift Outfitters in TR, so Cis met me there. We took the bike to the Great Escape where they confirmed what we had found and will fix it and tune it up as warranty work. Then Cis and I drove back to TR and joined in the lunch. The new derailleur should be in by Wednesday and the bike be back on the road. Not only did I not get a metric century but I didn't even get a quarter.
