Got the day off to roll over from dayshift to nightshift on my next project and used the time to get some miles in. Found a motel just off a trailhead for the bike trail around Lake Okeechobee and accessed it today. Got on at Taylor Creek and flew down to Buckhead Ridge and then hit the highway, after the trail ended, down to Indian Prairie. Temperature wasn’t as hot as Wednesday being now a perfect eighty degrees. The reason I flew down was not caused by feeling frisky or riding strong but by the steady sixteen mile an hour tailwind. I wanted to get forty-five miles in but got a little hesitant about going too far with the wind and it appears I made the right decision by cutting the ride down to thirty five as the wind decimated me on the way back. Struggled severely straight into the wind but felt a little better in the crosswind sections. Still feel weak and worn out but at least a good section of today’s outing was pleasurable. I’ll probably need a few thousand miles to work off the flab I put on off the bike for the past three weeks and today was a good start.
