After work I headed to Greenville Tech with the intention of getting 15 miles on the Cleveland Park Swamp Rabbit and around the area. Erica wanted to ride but she was just leaving home when I started, so she was to call me once she arrived. I took off and made a couple of laps around the Y loop then started making various loops through and around Cleveland Park. After a little over 4 miles Erica called. I was laboring up a hill when I saw a path offshoot that turned right and straight downhill. After a short turn the front wheel it a slick spot under some wet leaves then a dry spot when it locked up. I went over the handlebars and landed on the asphalt with the bike on top of me and my legs wrapped up in the bike. Erica called back and she met me where there is a water fountain and brought some paper towels to clean up the blood. The big callous is gone from my left knee along with several scrapes across it, there is a deep gouge at the base of my right hand, and my left elbow is pretty scraped up. Now that I have settled down, I noticed a large bruise and some swelling on the inside of my right thigh! What a way to go.
After meeting Erica we rode the length of the Swamp Rabbit and back, then made some loops around the park area and a lap around the Y loop. While riding around Cleveland Park we turned onto a little side street called Hemlock. It went quickly downhill then made the steepest climb that I have made since starting to ride. That hill really took the starch out of both of us. Then we headed back to Tech and called it a night. I rode over 16 1/2 miles and 12 1/2 of it was after wrecking.
