After three days of rain I was ready to get back on the bike. I headed out East North toward the SRT. Once I was out I knew that the wind was pretty brutal. I just took the starch out of me on the 9 miles up. It was pretty good coming back but by then I was pooped out! Just beyond Blue Ridge I saw a photo shoot going on and when I passed by it was Erika Grace Powell. She is a former Miss America contestant and a Furman graduate. On the trip back they were still there and I stopped to chat with her for a few seconds. Later I was stopped at a light on Main Street when a guy in a car asked if I started riding once they redid east North. He seemed very happy that I had and told my to check out Bikeville.com . I think that he was one of the bike lane planners. At the next light I was behind an SUV about 4 cars back from the light. When it turned green they all started and I started to pedal. I looked down to see if my right pedal was turned over and my helmet hit the back glass of the SUV. There was nothing damaged but my pride! My mirror had fallen off of my glasses and the chain was off of the front sprocket. You can see that my speed was down, but it was a crazy ride. Lost in everything else was that was the first ride on the Michelin tire that I put installed on Monday.
