Ride Description: W/Sue... This is the Asheville version of Rock Cut. Close to town, great spot for an after work ride. Just a couple minutes from the Bent Creek Lodge B&B. Jodee set us up with the route. The trails are not marked that well and we got "lost" early on. After spending way too much time looking at the map instead of riding, we just decided to wing it. Talk about climbing! We climbed almost 1000 ft. in less than 3 miles. The trails were FAST and smooth, with a few water crossings and good flow, with lots of rolling grade dips for plenty of chances for big air if you choose to. I chose not to since I didn't know the trails. Nothing too technical. I had to walk 1 steep section. There are a couple short IMBA sections, and fire roads. We parked at HardTimes Trail Head and rode up Wolf Branch and Ingles Field Gap to 5 points (LONG climb!) Down Little Hickory and Sidehill. Then over to Explorer Loop. (Cool rhododendron/cedar tunnels!) Very fun. We missed out on the new Green's Lick downhill section, thanks to a guy in the parking lot that said "a guy broke his leg on Green's Lick yesterday, they had to gurney him out". That pretty much scared Sue out of riding that trail! Maybe Next Time!
