After work I headed to ride the ICAR hoping to get in 15 miles. The sky was overcast and it was windy. When I arrived I called Erica but she was in line at the tax office and sounded very put out with that situation. So I told her that I was going to start and to text me if she got over to ride. After starting off into the wind, my hamstrings and thighs were very tight and they were wearing me out. I think that was from the wreck two days ago. Some of the parking lots that I like to do loops in were parked pretty full so I made loops in a couple of other places. The first lap around the ICAR was 10.2 miles and Erica still wasn't there. I started the second lap still hoping to get 15 miles. After about a mile Erica texted, so I stopped, called her (see I do learn), and turned back to meet her. We made a second lap around the ICAR , but Erica wanted to get in another mile and a half. So we made several loops around the St. Francis parking lot and took a last jaunt down to the railroad crossing and back. I ended up with 23.1 miles and averaged over 12 mph. The second lap my thighs and hammies had loosened up. When Erica is on her road bike she really pulls away from me while climbing hills. That has become a real struggle for me to keep up - of course I make up for it on the downhill side!
