I dragged my 47 year old Firestone coaster brake bike out of the basement, pumped up the tires, and headed to Cleveland Park to find the Swamp Rabbit Trail. I rode about 25 minutes with some pretty stout hills along the way. I haven't been on a bike regularly in close to 25 years. I really need the exercise as right now my main source of exercise is disc golf. I'd like to play disc golf twice a week and ride two or three times a week. If I show myself that I will have the self discipline to ride regularly I will buy a nice bike and then see if I can clean up the Firestone for sentimental reasons. I have put several thousands of miles on that bike and it would be hard to just toss it out. It's been a faithful friend, but it was also very hard when I pulled it out of the basement and found my faithful bike so rusted up. I will say that it is still a very smooth riding bike. I don't know if it is really that smooth or if I am just accustomed to it after 47 years!
