Brevets are randonneur rides and for a whole bunch of information go to www.rusa.org for a history of randonneuring, what brevets are, etc. etc. etc.
At the ripe old age of (mumble..mumble..mumble...) I figure it's time I created a bucket list of brevets I want to do. Bucket list? You didn't see the movie with Jack Nicolson and Morgan Freeman? Rent it. Netflix it. Buy it. Whatever....but enjoy it.
So here's my bucket list of brevets (as best I can remember before me BJ Blog was destroyed...what a sad day that was.)
Any 200km brevet here:
Texas with Dan Driscoll and his randonneurs. Santa Cruz with Bill Bryant and Lois Springsteen, two stalwarts of RUSA and just good, fun people. OrRando, the Oregon Randonneurs Group. My home but not there as much as I wannabee. Washington State with Don Bootby or Raleighdon as he's known on BJ PA or NJ. North Carolina Colorado Wisconsin
At least two more 600km brevets and I don't care where
England, France, Germany. I'll take a brevet any time over there.
And maybe a 1200km brevet.
Paris Brest Paris: The olympics of rando rides. Year 2011 next one up.
Great Southern Randonee: Australia Oh my yes. Even if it takes me 120 hours.
Colorado just becuase it's the "Last Chance Randonnee".
Don't know precisely why I enjoy enduro type of rides, but I do. I surely do.
