The rain I anticipated riding in yesterday showed up today on what was supposed to be a cool dry day. Roads were dry early in the ride and rain was really more of a drizzle with a few occasional large drops. Weaved my way into the headwinds on what back routes I could find but eventually headed straight into the headwind once I crossed the only bridge in forty miles across the Red River into Oklahoma. Only road here appeared to be the four lane and a rather poorly surfaced service road. Not much along the highway other than a casino until I pulled into Hugo. Was surprised at the size of Hugo as there didn't appear to be anything but prarie around it. Had lunch then turned around and headed back down the highway into Texas. Got really cold while I had lunch and the wind had really picked up which was convienient as the ride home had a very strong tailwind. Got comfortable once I got pedalling and produced my own heat. Got up to speeds in the twenties which is something I've not experienced in a couple of weeks. Had planned on going a little further north to see Hugo Lake but got lazy after lunch. Turned out to be a longer ride than I thought so I was glad I slacked off.
