I drove to the park today to get in a ride. One of our Bike Journal riderd was killed by a FedEx semi yesterday. This man rides around 10,000 miles a year in the Portland area. He was 70 years old and retired last week.
I rode south on the trail to Pleasantburg Drive then turned and rode back north. I rode to the Train Pocket Park at Sulphur Springs Road and stopped for a drink. There was a couple there wanting to know how to get to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery. I told them that it was two miles south on the right. Then I rode north to where the path would cross 276 to go on north, but I turned back south. I rode back down the trail to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and pulled in for a snack and drink. I bought a baba salad, iced tea, and two cinnamon apple shortbreads - one for me and one for Cis. Just north of there I ran into Marcia and in Cleveland Park I ran into Ken. I was a nice ride, but I still feel empty about KirkeJ on Bike Journal.
