 Rain Ride
My November riding streak ended at two days as yesterday when I opened the curtains, expecting per the weather channel bright sunshine, I found a soaked parking lot and heavy rain. My karma must still be somewhat active as rain was predicted all day today, but when I opened the curtain to greet the rain, the parking lot was dry. I checked the radar and it appeared I would have a couple of somewhat dry albeit windy hours to ride. Pedaled to east to Blossum and planned on a stiff headwind as I turned south to Pattonville. Wind actually was worse on the way to Blossum and found a crosswind waiting for me. Combined with a slight downgrade it made for some decent riding. Caught a tailwind back up 271 for more pleasant riding. Took a shortcut by the airport to both check out the Trail de Paris Reno extension as well as check out how much business the local strip club was getting. Strip club has either closed or wasn't open for business yet. I did find that the Reno portion of the rails to trails has been extended. So far it hasn't been paved and just has a crushed stone surface. I rode a couple of miles to the east but didn't dare go much further as the clouds were thickening and occasional drops were falling from the sky. Took the first crossroad I found and made the return trip via the paved highway. Ended up riding in late dusklike conditions even though it was still an hour to sunset. It got even more interesting as the skies opened up with another three miles to go. Had enough speed to keep relatively dry but that ended at a stoplight where I received a good soaking. Still was a pretty good ride for late November. Kept a good spin but heart seems to still be working a lot for the speeds I'm outputting.
