I had to work for Thanksgiving day and my Cis is in Florida at her sister Eco's for the holiday. My work buddy Lou is also home alone and he worked today as well. So we planned to ride over Paris Mountain then to TR and back down the Swamp Rabbit Trail to town. I got to Sunshine Cycles parking lot ahead of Lou and took off knowing that he is a much better rider and that he would catch me or that I would wait at the top for him. I took off and felt dead riding from fighting the stiff wind yesterday. I also had on a long sleeve undergarment under my jersey and was a little over dressed. I took off and came to the mountain. I felt like I wouldn't make it up the the climb. As I approached the steep climb at Audubon I saw another cyclist catching me. I stood up and made the climb and he caught me shortly after. We rode together for about a half mile and that really buoyed my spirits for the ride. Even though he dropped me on the next good climb I knew that I was god for the ride. I made the top but no Lou yet. I waited about 10 minutes and saw him coming up the last climb of the mountain. Even though I waited close to 10 minutes he had actually climbed the mountain 4 minutes quicker than I had. Lou also forgot his riding shoes and was riding in tennis shoes. Then it was down eh TR side of the mountain. Lou is a better rider and better descender than I am so it was a hair raising ride down. He didn't get too far ahead of me as he got behind a car and that allowed me to stay close. Then we rode on to TR and I showed him the Trailside Creamery. He wants to ride with his 4 kids to it some time. We headed back toward Greenville on the SRT and we stopped at some of the sights along the way - the SRT Grocery and Cafe, TTR's new rental and showroom, and some other things. We rode through town and back to Sunshine Cycles. Then we hunted for a place to eat and settled on Ruby Tuesdays. Lou had grilled chicken salad and I had a grilled salmon salad. It was a very good ride and a good Thanksgiving even though we were both away from our families.
