Another windy day today with a less heat involved. Had a hard time motivating myself to ride after yesterday's adventure in the wind. Decided on a short ride along the local rail to trail between Reno and Paris. Started out into a stiff headwind and had the internal argument going on as whether or not a ride today was really in my best interest. After the first mile though I was out of the wind and the rest of the ride was not unpleasant. Sections of the trail have been resurfaced since last I rode it and although it is overall in much better shape it is already showing new cracks from the harsh Texas sun. I was disappointed that the to scale map of the solar system has been tarred over on all the planets inside of Jupiter's orbit. The inner planets have been replaced with some primitive and rudimentary graffiti. Just more evidence of the decline of civilization. On the bright side there are now more numerous colorful park benches spread along the trail. Only saw a couple of women walking on the trail today and a trio of young imps no doubt seeking destructive adventures. Kept the ride short and the level as mild as I could handle. Not a bad ride once I was out of the wind.
