I've Got Something to Say
|
Having a dr's appt at 3 PM today, I could not figure any reasonable options to bike commute today. So, I dropped Jacque off at her work, then went onto my work. I called it a day at 2:30 PM so I could get over to the dr's office. This is a follow-up visit for my cataract surgery last Thursday. I didn't have to wait very long before being lead back to the exam room. There the assistant, Tracy, did some prelim testing - eye chart, questions, etc. - then I waited about 5 minutes for Dr McGreal to come in and complete the exam.
After dilating my eye, doing a pressure test, and looking at it through the typical eye exam equipment, his over all assessment is my eye is perfect!! He was very pleased with how my eye is healing, and stressed the importance of continuing the eye drop treatments I've been doing since last Tuesday (before the surgery). My eye is a few weeks ahead of schedule healing wise, so he released me from coming back for another follow-up at that time. Instead he said I can go to my regular optometrist and get my new prescription glasses/contacts.
How many times are we told that we are perfect? OK, I know I'm not perfect, and Dr McGreal did not say I am completely perfect. He did say my eye wsa healing perfectly and that was sweet music to my ears. This is right up there with a follow-up visit I had after my detached-retina sugery last summer, where I was seen by Dr Krummenacher because Dr Rothman, the one that did my surgery, was at their other office that morning. Dr Krummenacher was please with what he saw in my eye and he stated that Dr Rothman did an A+ job on my eye. Each of these two follow-up visits were very reassuring being given by a second doctor - in medical terms, a second opinion of a different kind.
